We are continuing our recycling initiative at Hindley and will be starting Trash Free Tuesdays on Tuesday January 10th. How can you participate?
- Try to create less garbage and recycle more
- Pack a trash-free lunch- no ziplocs, no paper, no disposable water bottles
- Use reusable water bottles, Tupperware, Snapware, Lunchskins, or Wrap-n-mats

• 38 billion plastic water bottles end up in landfill each year.
• Plastic water bottles take 700 years before they start to decompose.
• Children’s lunches create 3.5 billion pounds of garbage each year.
• 18,000 pounds of trash is generated each year from one average-sized elementary school.
• It takes a 15-year-old tree to produce 700 brown paper bags.
• The average child generates 67 pounds of lunchtime trash each year.
